Community writing guidelines

Version 2026-10-01.1

Refugia’s community articles are contributor writing, not Refugia editorial content, a fact-check, or an official Church endorsement. Discuss ideas seriously and treat people with dignity.

Before publishing

Choose a public byline and preview the exact article. Confirm that you wrote it or have permission to publish it, that quotations and citations are accurate and appropriately attributed, and that you have not included private information without consent. Disclose substantial AI assistance. Do not publish private project notes, other people’s work, or private uploads without permission.

What is not allowed

No harassment, threats, hateful attacks on people or protected groups, encouragement of violence, sexually explicit content, exploitation, impersonation, spam, scams, privacy violations, or copyright infringement. No fabricated or misleading religious quotations. Criticism of beliefs and arguments must not become abuse of people.

Safety screening when you publish

Only when you choose Publish, Refugia sends the article’s public byline, title, body, source-link labels and URLs, and AI-assistance disclosure to Anthropic for automated safety screening. Saving a private draft does not send it for screening, and drafts are not screened in the background. Refugia does not include account details, login email addresses, private notes, or other workspace content unless you put that information in the article. Review the exact version and the privacy policy before consenting to publish.

Screening can make mistakes. It is not a fact-check, doctrinal review, or endorsement, and it does not guarantee that an article is safe or accurate. An article that passes becomes public immediately, without human preapproval. If screening rejects a version, that version stays unpublished and is not placed in an approval queue. If screening is unavailable or you reach the screening request limit, publication stops; retry later. An already-published version remains public if screening a later edit fails. You can still withdraw it. Contact hello@sipswithserra.com with the article link if you believe a screening decision is mistaken.

Public writing and private drafts

Drafts are private until you choose to submit their exact version for publication. Articles that pass screening can be read and shared by anyone, including people without a Refugia account. Later draft edits remain private until you publish those changes. You can unpublish an article, but Refugia cannot recall copies that other people have already saved.

Ratings and reports

Verified accounts can give one current 1–5-star rating per article, and cannot rate their own articles. Updating a rating replaces the earlier rating. Ratings include earlier published versions. Articles with at least five ratings and an average below 2.5 show a low-reader-rating warning. Ratings express reader feedback, not a factual or doctrinal determination. Do not coordinate fake, retaliatory, purchased, or otherwise manipulated ratings.

Comments

Verified Scholar, Scholar Plus, and Scholar Max subscribers can post comments beneath published articles. Comments and your chosen public display name are visible to everyone who can read the article. Your login email is not used as your display name. Before posting, confirm that you want the exact comment and name to be public and that they follow these guidelines. Do not include private information or material you do not have permission to share.

Comments appear immediately and are not sent to Anthropic for the article safety screening described above. They are not fact-checked or endorsed by Refugia. Report a comment for safety, privacy, accuracy, or rights concerns. Moderators can remove comments; blocking a contributor hides their comments for your signed-in account. You can delete your own comments even if your subscription has expired. Deleting your connected account also removes your comments through the account-deletion process. Refugia cannot recall copies others already saved.

Use Report article or Report author for safety, accuracy, privacy, or rights concerns. A low rating is not a substitute for reporting abuse. Block an author to hide their articles for your account; guest hiding applies only in that browser.

Moderation, help, and appeals

Moderators review reports and may remove published articles or suspend abusive contributors. They do not approve articles before publication. Reports are private and do not automatically establish wrongdoing. Authors can read a removal reason in Manage your writing. If you believe a screening or moderation decision is mistaken, or need to report a concern without signing in or after an article is removed, contact hello@sipswithserra.com with the article link and a brief explanation. Include only information needed to investigate; never send passwords or sign-in codes. An appeal does not automatically restore publication.

Your data

Your chosen byline, published article, source links, AI-assistance disclosure, publication details, and aggregate ratings are public. Login email addresses and private account identifiers are not automatically published. Do not include them in the article. Saved draft content, individual voting records, reports, and block relationships are not displayed publicly. Unpublishing retains your private draft and rating history; only a never-published draft can be individually deleted. Deleting your connected account hides your articles and removes your articles and ratings through the account-deletion process. Limited security records prevent deleted accounts from being recreated by stale requests. See Refugia’s privacy policy for processing, retention, and privacy requests.
